Château de la Ragotière

The former family seat of the Loré de la Ragotière family, the Château (14th century) and the thirty hectare estate were bought by the Couillaud brothers in 1979. This soil of schist and micaschist produces late-maturing and well-structured wines, particularly good for keeping.

CHÂTEAU DE LA RAGOTIÈRE, VALLET

Muscadet sèvre et maine 2018

This oustanding Muscadet Sèvre et Maine was bottled after aging 44 months on fine lees. This wine expresses the minerality of our terroir of Schists.

Tasting Notes:

This is an exceptional Muscadet. It still has plenty of freshness along with a tight, mineral texture and lightly smoky flavors. The concentration gives the wine richness while it remains bone dry and crisp.

CHÂTEAU DE LA RAGOTIÈRE, MOUZILLON-TILLIERES

Muscadet sèvre et maine 2018

This cuvée is the result of a plot selection and 35 months of aging on the lees. It is harvested on a plot of Gabbro terroir. Vinified then matured in underground vats for almost 3 years on fine lees. Richness and power for a top-of-the-range Muscadet.

Tasting Notes:

The very powerful nose reveals all the minerality of an exceptional terroir! The nuances of flint and flint blend perfectly with the complexity of toast and the delicacy of cherry blossom. The palate has a very nice base, giving us the sweetness of liquorice notes enhanced with a hint of star anise. Bitter orange zest gives this wine a refreshing bitterness for a powerful finish.

CHÂTEAU DE LA RAGOTIÈRE, GRANITE

Muscadet sèvre et maine sur lie 2023

Tasting Notes:

From a plot of Granite soil, this wine has a full and mineral nose with menthol aromas, and toasted notes on the palate. The finish stands out with its iodine notes and great length.

CHÂTEAU DE LA RAGOTIÈRE, CUVÉE AMÉLIE

MUSCADET SÈVRE ET MAINE SUR LIE 2022

Tasting Notes:

A surprising Muscadet. On the nose, citrus notes blend with hazelnut and brioche notes. The palate is soft, full with surprising roundness.

CHÂTEAU DE LA RAGOTIÈRE, OLD VINES SELECTION

MUSCADET SÈVRE ET MAINE SUR LIE 2023

Tasting Notes :

Broad, round and rich, this wine holds its freshness close to its core. The vines are between 40 to 60 years old and find firm footing in mica schist soils that give rise to fruit that is focused, persistent and clean. A bit of bottle age brings amplified expression and targeted concentration

CHÂTEAU DE LA RAGOTIÈRE, LES SCHISTES

MUSCADET SÈVRE ET MAINE SUR LIE 2023

Tasting Notes :

Expect a light straw color and mineral-driven nose, which gives way to a delightful range of white fruit and floral themes on the palate.

DOMAINE DE LA RAGOTIERE, COEUR DE SCHISTES

CHARDONNAY, IGP VAL DE LOIRE 2023

Tasting Notes :

Planted on the south-facing slopes of the Sangueze, shale soils prevail. At harvest, the Chardonnay grapes were a golden yellow, signifying a rich flavor profile and optimum maturity. Coeur de Schistes is a wine of character, combining a generous spirit and ongoing complexity. Drink now or age up to a decade.

DOMAINE DE LA RAGOTIERE, CUVÉE PRESTIGE
